Lefton "Rose Chintz" hand-painted teacup and saucer set

Vintage Lefton China "Rose Chintz" Footed Tea Cup and Saucer. Hand painted. Very good condition! About Lefton china: Hungarian - born sportswear manufacturer, George Zoltan Lefton is the name-sake of fine Lefton China. A collector of finer porcelain, this passion led him to manufacture his own beginning in early 1941. Later, on Sunday, December 7, 1941, Mr. Lefton learned of the attack on Pearl Harbor. He acted quickly to board up the unprotected glass front of his Japanese neighbor's business, heroically protecting it just as local citizens arrived to retaliate against Japanese-Americans and their businesses. Much later, the same friend Mr. Lefton had protected led Mr. Lefton to manufacture his fine china in Japan. This has become rare and collectible. Tea always tastes better from beautiful drinkware.
